Whether you judge him by emotion, spirituality or astonishing technique, he's amazing. And all the more amazing since he does it all on a simple bamboo flute. But then, this is classical Indian music, and amazing performances are common. The flute can be, and often is, a cold, distant instrument. But held by Chaurasia, it conveys tremendous human warmth. There are some players - and this is one of them - whose playing transcends all musical categories.
